WorkCover Queensland Occupational Therapy Services

Onward Health provides occupational therapy services for individuals funded by WorkCover Queensland following workplace injury. We deliver functional capacity evaluation, workplace assessment and return-to-work planning aligned with scheme requirements.

Our focus is on restoring functional capacity, supporting a safe and sustainable return to work and reducing the risk of re-injury.

How We Can Support You

We provide targeted intervention to improve:

Therapy is goal-oriented and measurable, with regular review to ensure progress toward RTW.

We conduct on-site workplace assessments to identify ergonomic risks, environmental barriers, environmental modification needs and recommend practical adjustments that support a worker's safe return.

We assess the physical, cognitive and environmental demands of a specific role, providing employers, case managers and treating teams with a clear picture of what the job actually requires.

We work with the worker, employer, treating GP and WorkCover case manager to design graded, realistic return-to-work programs, including:

  • Suitable duties identification and documentation

  • Graded RTW schedules matched to current capacity

  • Progress review and plan adjustment as capacity changes

  • Return-to-work barrier screening

We complete detailed, evidence-based Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) to determine a worker's current physical and cognitive capacity against the inherent requirements of their role. Assessments include:

  • Standardised physical capacity testing (lifting, carrying, postural tolerance)

  • Cognitive and executive function screening where relevant

  • Comparison against job / task demand analysis

  • Clear, objective outcome measures to support scheme and employer decision-making
