Attention & Concentration Course

Onward Health's Attention & Focus Course is a structured, 6-week program supporting adults to rebuild concentration, reduce distractibility, and manage mental fatigue following neurological injury or illness.

Reduced attention is one of the most common and most disruptive cognitive changes after brain injury or stroke. It can affect conversations, work tasks, reading and safety around the home. This course targets attention specifically, using a structured weekly format so progress is measurable and strategies are applied directly to real daily tasks.

Who we support

We commonly work with adults following:

  • Stroke

  • Acquired Brain Injury

  • Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Neurological conditions

  • Post-concussion presentations

  • Cognitive decline impacting daily function

This course is delivered one-on-one and tailored to the individual's presentation, goals and environment.

The Attention & Focus Course may help with:

  • Difficulty sustaining attention on a task

  • Distractibility in busy or noisy environments

  • Mental fatigue during concentration-heavy tasks

  • Difficulty following conversations or multi-step instructions

  • Reduced ability to manage more than one task at a time

What This Course Addresses

Assessment & Intervention Approach

The course runs over six sessions (45–60 minutes), delivered in person or via telehealth.

Session 1 — Assessment and goal setting. We measure baseline attention and functional performance and set one to three goals tied to real tasks that matter to you.

Session 2 — Sustained attention strategies, including task pacing and environmental adjustment.

Session 3 — Selective attention strategies for managing distraction and structuring your workspace.

Session 4 — Divided and alternating attention strategies for multitasking and task-switching.

Session 5 — Real-world application, practising strategies in your own home, workplace, or community setting.

Session 6 — Review and maintenance planning, with outcome re-assessment and a written strategy summary to keep.

Course Structure

The course aims to improve:
